KP 621
Qual. Research Design & Analy.
The varied epistemologies in qualitative research will be introduced in this course, providing students with a broad understanding of interpretive methods in the field of Kinesiology and Physical Education (and Health, more broadly). The principles of qualitative research design will be discussed, and students will be trained in the areas of organizing, interpreting, and presenting qualitative findings. Students will have an opportunity to critically reflect upon each of the stages of qualitative research design and will engage in guided activities to further elucidate the meaning of this process. These course objectives will be accomplished through instructor-led/student-led discussion, lecture content, readings, and assignments, including a non-participant observation study and preparation of an original piece of photovoice research.
