Theory I: Foundations

The exploration of fundamental musical concepts through development of aural, oral, written, and analytical skills. Topics include staff notation, clefs, major and minor keys, time signatures, meter and rhythm, intervals, triads, 7th chords, Roman numerals, chord symbols and other notational conventions, texture. The course contextualizes Western systems of notation within a global context. Cross-listed with MUAC101. <br>
