International trade is the top foreign policy concern for many governments at the moment. Navigating Britain’s exit from the European Union, renegotiating the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) or US threats to impose sizeable tariffs on Chinese imports are just a few prominent examples of recent trade headlines. But, countries on every continent are involved in trade deals to varying degrees. Trade agreements and policies promise benefits to some and create challenges for others. This course provides an opportunity to assess current debates, including efforts to promote “progressive” trade. <br>
