An introduction to the classical language of ancient South Asia (Indian subcontinent). This course does not require any previous knowledge of other ancient languages or of the modern languages of South Asia. Students gain a basic knowledge of the writing and sound systems and principles of Sanskrit grammar and syntax. <br>
