The social and historical construction of motherhood, fatherhood and childhood in 20th century Canadian society is examined. There is a particular focus on media representations. The social understandings emerging from developmental psychology and expert parenting advice are also analyzed from a sociological perspective. <br> <br><font color="crimson">
