ECED 3420

Operating Systems

Lec 01 and Lec 01 selected

An operating system is the software which controls software applications’ access to the underlying hardware and system services in a computer system. This course considers the issues relating to the design and implementation of a message-passing operating system and kernel, system support software, and test applications. The course develops an understanding of the internals of a target machine, how it can be programmed to handle events, and the tradeoffs involved when designing an operating system kernel to support real-time events.
