Hydrology and Hydraulics
This course provides a quantitative study of natural water circulation systems with emphasis on basic physical principles and interrelationships among major hydrologic and hydraulic processes in watersheds. The characteristics of mass and energy and inputs to and outputs from watersheds are explored. Factors governing precipitation occurrence, evaporation and infiltration rates, groundwater recharge and discharge, runoff generation, methods of streamflow analysis and open channel flow in rivers and streams are considered. Hydrologic field measurements, mathematical modeling of watershed processes and the effects of climate change on precipitation inputs and other watershed processes, are included. [Restriction(s): Non-BENG students may take a maximum of 4.00 ENGG credits.][Department(s): Department of Civil, Environmental, and Water Resources Engineering]
