River Hydraulic Design

Lec 0101 and Lec 0101 selected

This course discusses methods of stream flow characterization for design of hydraulic structures, river restoration, flood warning, flood plain mapping and water management. Hydraulic analysis is applied to the design of dams, control structures, energy dissipation structures, bridges and culverts. Hydraulic modeling and analyses of steady flow profiles, flood waves, and sediment transport are applied in the design of natural and constructed channels and protective works for rivers to achieve social, ecological and economic sustainability and greater resiliency to the effects of climate change. [Restriction(s): Non-BENG students may take a maximum of 4.00 ENGG credits.][Department(s): Department of Civil, Environmental, and Water Resources Engineering]
