ENGR 354

Fluid Mechanics II

Lec A1 and Tut T1 selected

This course concentrates on the behaviour of compressible fluids. Topics include the fluid medium, kinematics, and dynamics of a flow field; compressible flow; steady and unsteady flows; turbulent flows; two dimensional flow and immersed objects; velocity and pressure fields; lift and drag on cylinders and aerofoils; evaluation of wind loads on structures; pump and turbine analysis and the design of pipeline systems; and application of hydraulic engineering principles to problems of environmental concern such as pollutant transport and dispersion and mixing in rivers and lakes. This course includes a mandatory tutorial section.
