CS 400N

Wearables, Cyborgs & Bodies

Lec A selected

From fitness trackers to smart glasses to pacemakers, wearable technologies increasingly mediate how we live, and relate to our bodies and others. This course explores what it means to merge bodies with machines and think with and alongside technologies. Through historical case studies and contemporary examples, students examine how wearables shape identity, intimacy, surveillance, and power. We consider what we build into these devices, what we ask of them, and what our attachments reveal about society. Together we develop critical and ethical frameworks for living with the technologies we wear.
