OCCU 5021

This course introduces learners to occupational therapy practice with individuals, families and communities emphasizing primary promotion of mental health and evidence informed approaches for responding to mental illness. Lectures will focus on common mental health concerns and conditions, assessment processes, and occupational therapy interventions for mental health practice. Critical analysis of health care systems, stigma and ableism will build skills for professional reflexivity. Labs will focus on assessment, intervention and documentation, applying processes of practice and building practice skills. Integrating knowledge and skills across courses this term is expected.
